Enhancing the UMass Amherst Experience

The Alumni Association strives to maintain a strong bond with alumni around the world and to help shape the future of UMass Amherst by supporting programs and services that enrich and enhance the academic and social experience of the student body. Annually, the Alumni Association awards nearly $40,000 in grants to student organizations and campus groups that contribute to campus life.

Alumni Association grants have funded events such as Southwest Hollywood Week 2007, a weeklong series of events to entertain and provide artistic education to the Southwest Residential community; the UMass Amherst Supermileage Vehicle Team, a group of engineering students working to design and build a single-person, fuel-efficient car for the Supermileage® Competition; and Asian Night, a cultural event highlighting the ethnic heritage of various Asian communities through acting, dancing, singing, cuisine, and other activities.

In addition, close to 100 scholarships were awarded to students in recognition of academic excellence, commitment to public service, and outstanding leadership and service to UMass Amherst. The Alumni Association will continue to work to enrich, strengthen, and develop the academic and social experience of students.
