For some, participation in the Alumni Association means making a membership commitment that reflects the value they place on their UMass Amherst experience. Our Life Members have made this commitment and, at the $1,000 level, they are the fastest growing membership segment.
“UMass created a foundation from which I could grow and learn, and more importantly—learn how to do so without borders and limitations,” said J. Brent Tartamella ’94. “A Life Membership in the Alumni Association was a way to express my commitment and gratitude back to a school that has allowed me to be very successful. It was the very foundation which propelled me forward.”
“I’m a Life Member of the Alumni Association because I value the network of alumni I have access to, through programs, events, and the online alumni community,” said Ron Grasso ’92, “and the friends and professional contacts I’ve made through this network.”
The Life Membership level also supports student scholarships awarded by the UMass Amherst Alumni Association. More than 100 scholarships were awarded to deserving students this year.
In recognition of their support of the Alumni Association, the names of all Life Members are engraved on special plaques in the UMass Amherst Campus Center. Life Members receive a customized stadium blanket, a onetime award of ten UMass Athletic priority points, and one annual priority point thereafter. A Life Membership is also 80 percent tax deductible.
