TERRY Y. ALLEN (contributing editor) is a writer and editor who lives in Amherst.

JUDSON BROWN ("Martyrdom’s extraordinary legacy," page 10; "Studying war, seeking peace," page 11) longtime "local pencil," is a freelance journalist and wordsmith for hire living in Northampton.

CYNTHIA FISHER (mosaic illustration, page 56) is a Buckland artist and illustrator whose work appears regularly in the magazine. See more of her work at www.bigbangmosaics.com.

MARIETTA PRITCHARD ’73G (contributing editor) is a freelance writer who lives in Amherst and is a frequent contributor to UMass Magazine. Her interview with Chancellor John Lombardi appears on page 6.

KAREN SKOLFIELD ’98G (Branches of Learning, page 20) is director of communications for the UMass College of Engineering and a regular contributor to UMass.

FAYE WOLFE ("Painting Poetry," page 18) is an editor and a writer for Disney Magazine. She lives in Northampton.

LESLIE WOLFE ’80G ("A Wise Way to Learn," page 28) received his M.F.A. in English from UMass. He lives in Northampton, where he runs a business that designs and develops training programs.

PATRICIA WRIGHT ("Love & War," page 34) is the former editor of UMass Magazine. She lives in Northampton.

IVA ZIMOVA (photography "Love & War," page 34, and back cover) was born in the former Czechoslovakia. In 1982 she immigrated to Canada and studied at both the Dawson College Institute of Photography and Concordia University. Iva contributes her work to the Czech NGO People in Need Foundation and exhibits her photographs internationally.
