THE UMASS AMHERST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION has been an integral part of the university community for almost 130 years, providing services and programs that enlighten, strengthen and develop the student, faculty, staff and alumni enterprises.

1. Student Recruitment & Retention
To attract and keep the brightest students in the country, alumni recruit prospective students through the Alumni Admissions Council. With the same goal, the association funds scholarships for prospective and current students.

2. UMass Amherst Advocates
Nearly2,000 alumni, parents and friends engage in advocacy, keeping UMass Amherst on the front burner with Massachusetts state legislators.

3. A Global Alumni Presence
More than 50 alumni clubs worldwide offer opportunities for community service, education and advocacy, strengthening the network of UMass Amherst alumni, parents and friends.

4. Student Alumni Relations Society (STARS)
This student-run organization promotes interaction between students and alumni. STARS members participate in valuable leadership and professional experiences, helping them gain a stronger appreciation for UMass Amherst and preparing them to give back to campus after graduation.

5. Distinguished Alumni Awards
Alumni, honorary alumni, young alumni and faculty are honored each year for their achievements and contributions to the well-being of the university.

6. Senior Commencement Ball
Graduating seniors mark the beginning of their alumni relationship with the campus at this farewell event and learn ways to stay connected to their alma mater.

7. Online Alumni Directory
Members stay in touch with classmates for networking and career advancement with this Web-based service.

8. Class Year Reunions
The association sponsors the return every spring of the 50th, 45th and 40th anniversary classes along with all emeritus alumni, as they renew friendships and continue their involvement with UMass Amherst.

9. Homecoming Weekend
UMass Amherst Homecoming is truly a celebration of the university. This campus tradition attracts over 14,000 alumni, faculty, students and friends of UMass Amherst to campus every fall.

10. Grant Program
The Alumni Association Grant Program
offers grants of up to $2,000 to campus groups or alumni-based organizations. Last year, over 40 groups received association grants to help fund programs and initiatives for students, faculty, alumni and friends of UMass Amherst.
