It's a bird, It's a plane...It's Boateng!

KWESI FRIMPONG-BOATENG '03 IS THE fastest man in UMass history. The speedy graduate student from Accra, Ghana, earned that crown in March at the IC4A indoor track and field championships in Boston with a second- place finish in the 55-meter sprint. His time of 6.28 seconds marked his personal best as well as the UMass record.

Frimpong-Boateng received a B.S. in microbiology last June after a stellar outdoor season in which he set school and A-10 conference championship records in the 100-and 200-meter sprints and won the IC4A 100-meter championship. As a first-year master’s degree student, he has been quick off the blocks both academically and athletically: his first semester GPA was a perfect 4.0 and his list of records broken and awards won is getting longer each week. He was named the A-10 indoor track and field student athlete of the year, a member of the All-Conference Academic team, and a Verizon Academic All-American.
