Mel Allen (“The Courage of Young Writers,” page 80) teaches a course in magazine writing at UMass Amherst and is executive editor of Yankee magazine in Dublin, New Hampshire.
Ray Bert (“The Gravest Danger,” page 36) is a freelance writer and born-and-bred New Englander. He lives outside of Washington, D.C., with his wife, two cats, and his Red Sox obsession.
Art Clifford (“The World is Their Classroom,” page 13) is an instructor in UMassOnline’s certificate program in online journalism. He is currently working on a documentary about the wartime exploits of his father, who flew with the Royal Australian Air Force.
Charles Creekmore (“Fab Four,” page 30) has freelanced for such publications as Psychology Today, Travel & Leisure, and the New York Times, and is the author of Zen and the Art of Diabetes Maintenance. He currently works as the publications editor/writer in the dean’s office at the UMass Amherst College of Engineering.
Grace Friary (“Rain Man,” pg. 16) is an independent public relations consultant who writes from her office overlooking the historic Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls, Mass.
Deborah Klenotic (“What Lies Beneath,” page 4; “The Ties That Bind,” page 6; “A Wild Life,” page 19) is editor of Bennington Magazine at Bennington College in Vermont.
Gil Martinez (Illustration, “The Courage of Young Writers,” page 80) is assistant art director for Yankee magazine. He was born and raised in Mexico City where he wrote a book on calligraphy and typography. He lives and works near Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire, a place he loves.
Writer and performer Chris O’Carroll (“There Goes the Neighborhood,” page 22) was acting at St. Croix Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls, Wis., a few miles up the river from Marine-on-Saint-Croix, Minn., when he interviewed Shane Coen ’90 for the story.
Marietta Pritchard (“The Happiest Magazines on Earth,” page 42) is a freelance writer who lives in Amherst.
Jeanne Ricci (“Live! At Disney,” page 46) is managing editor at Fit Pregnancy magazine. She lives in Hollywood, Calif.
MeiMei Thai ’05 (“Hoop Dreams,” page 9) is exploring post-graduation options in light of her desire to travel the world. In the meantime, she has an internship with GoNOMAD.com, an alternative travel Web site for which she recently ventured to Trinidad.
Matt Vautour ’96 (“A Hockey Player with Heart,” page 10; “Naming Rites,” page 11) is a sports writer for the Daily Hampshire Gazette. While at UMass Amherst he served as editor-in-chief of the Daily Collegian.
Faye S. Wolfe (“Where There’s Spark,” page 54; “Citizen Keene,” page 55) is an editor and a writer for Disney Magazine. She lives in Northampton.
Leslie Wolfe ’80G (“High Risk, High Return,” page 12; “A Global Mind,” page 14) is president of HELIOS Custom Training, a Northampton-based instructional design and development firm that serves Global 1000 companies. |
