IT'S A MAGICAL TRANSFORMATION, MORE amazing even than the butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Once again, uncertain freshmen have metamorphosed into sure-footed seniors.
The 133rd undergraduate commencement was celebrated on May 25 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium, a gray day that never dampened high spirits. Chancellor John V. Lombardi presided over his first commencement, featuring a student speaker and inaugurating the 21st Century Leader Awards, given this year to 11 academically excellent students who have distinguished themselves and enhanced the reputation of the campus.
I come here to celebrate what you achieved, Lombardi told the 4,305 graduates and their 22,000 guests. Its the best day of the year. |
