SOUVENIR: testing into Mass Aggie

open volume public documents showing 1892 exam
BEST AND BRIGHTEST: Pronouns in the objective case? Adjectives in the comparative degree? Adverbs of manners? Uh-oh! Or try this one: How many hectoliters of oats can be put into a bin that is 4 meters long, 3 6/10 meters wide, and 2 5/10 meters deep? Could you have passed this standardized entrance exam to Massachusetts Agricultural College? Aggie-bound boys in 1892 may not have assembled in school cafeterias, clutching number two pencils, to face our dreaded SATs, but it seems they were put through some rigorous intellectual paces.
