UMASS MEDIA: Bruce MacCombie 67, 68G and Taj Mahal 63S

TRUE TO THEIR ROOTS: In a Globe interview on his appointment as director of Jazz at Lincoln Center last summer, BRUCE MACCOMBIE 67, 68G, former dean of the Juilliard School and Boston University School for the Arts, cited experience as Taj Mahals keyboard guy when I was in college at UMass. The former leader of Taj Mahal and the Electras was also heard from in Massachusetts last summer: On Labor Day, TAJ MAHAL 63 received the keys to his native city at the Stone Soul Festival in Springfield, which he fondly recalled for the Sunday Republican as like an African village in his youth.
